What interactions did sedentary Mesoamerican peoples have with the Native Americans of the US?
I don't know much about the southern US tribes, but the North Eastern tribes were indirectly influenced by mesoamerican peoples through an incredibly complex series of tradings that spanned the continent. This can not only be seen in excavated materials but in the similarities of oral histories and cosmologies of the Northeast native american peoples and those of south american civilizations
all I know off the top of my head is north american slaves were valued for their size compared to central american peoples.
No direct contact but we can see elements of trade networks stretching up to at least the Hopewell complex. It's generally believed that, like with the modern understanding of the silk road, this wouldn't have represented single people travelling the distance though, rather the diffusion of goods along a string of societies.
