Why do we obsess over artificial divisions arising from the natural progression of tribalism? That is essentially what history all history comes down to, doesn't it?
People love to indulge their base instincts, even self-described intellectuals. Also we are in the midst of a raging culture war so it is to be expected. Always remember that this website has ballooned with altrightists since the election frenzy, they are now constantly spilling out into the other boards with their hateful ideology. They only use history as a way to discover thousand year old grudges that they can conveniently adopt into their demented worldview.
I love history as much as the next guy... but lets be real. weather you're a byzaboo, Frankaboo, Turkaboo, whatever a -boo those people that we obsess over wouldn't give a rats ass about us. So why do we obsess over the likes of Justinian or Napoleon, Hannibal and so on...?
The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of manlet struggles.
