Are Europeans the descendants of the Israelites?
Apparently "Saxon" comes from "Isaac's son".
>>2422578
No, that's a long debunked folk etymology

Saxon literally means knife-men
That's some premium fucking Wewuz right there.

Around Saxons watch your actions.

That's a sax. That's what we are named after. Now go fuck yourself christboy
>>2422611
It's the other way round actually.
19th century English gentry genuinely thought they were descended from Israelites.
>>2422634
The need to feel relevant is an english core trait.
>>2422634
Huh. That's kind of funny. I guess a Saxon and a Jew works as well.
>>2422634
They descend from the Edomites which is close enough.
>>2422643
It's not exclusive to the English. The fact that the Bible is largely a history of the Jewish people encourages a tendency towards trying to appropriate a slice of that history among Christians that aren't of Jewish descent.

There's actually a splinter movement from British Israelism called Christian Identity that asserts that not only are white people the true descendants of Israel, but that the Jews as we know them are actually descendants of Esau.

The main rationale behind this theory is that, at the time of Israel (1000~500 BC), Europe was largely empty. Most of mankind was situated in the ME, North-Africa or Asia minor.
>Flood happens
>All of mankind gathers around Mesopotamia
>fast forward a couple centuries
>Entire Middle-East is covered
>fast forward a couple centuries
>NA and a bit of Asia is covered, and early Greeks (around the time of Persia)
The argument goes that the Israelites scattered to Europe after the Assyrian conquest. There's also a theory that the Spartans were the descendants of the tribe of Dan.
But this is borderline "Black Hebrew" we wuzing, it's in the realm of speculation and the normal interpretation of Biblical YEC is the "Table of Nations".
