>fight in the first world war
>get fucked by Germans
>have a civil war
>lose a war with Poles
>lose many people during red terror and hunger
>fight in world war two
>lose the biggest number of soldiers
>still be a major superpower
How was it possible for Russia/USSR to remain so powerful after losing so many people? They were also majority male, so it was harder for their women to find a partner to have children with, which should make demograpgical situation even worse.

After WW2 there was something like 7 or 8 million less males than females.
Gee OP, IDK. Maybe losing people and wars isn't an indicator is a contributor to dwindling international standing when you win WW2 and walk away an industrialized nation with half of Europe, an optimistic ideology, and a considerable amount of strategic resources. Oh yeah, you also have nukes and good scientist.

1. Russian manpower dwarfs that of any nation in Europe more than 3 times over when not accounting for overseas empires. Where Germany had 60 million people, Russia had nearly 200 million to pull from.
2. the Soviet Union did have a population crisis after the war, seeing as almost an entire generation of men aged 18-25 was killed, but the great thing about major wars ending is that most people celebrate by having massive amounts of sex, so the USSR was back to pre-war populations levels within the decade.
