Anyway, people have been complaining about how its going to shit and how it used to be great since beggining of time. This new generation is just special since there are lots of new thing specifical for it, social media being the most important one.

Probably forever, although I think that it's rather recent that we started naming specific years and giving titles to the generations. To add to what people are saying, it seems pretty cross-cultural. Here's a section from the Hagakure where a doctor complains about how young men have become weak:

I think it started with the Baby Boomers. The concept of generations has probably been around since about the mid seventies.

The thing that trips me out is that these were designations made for American Generations, in other countries in the world try to apply the same system but it doesn't work
