Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. There's a Chinese story where a man wants to steal a bell but it is too heavy. He wants to smash it into pieces to steal bits by bits yet that would make noises. So he covers his ears and smash, thinking that if he can't hear it, there ain't problems.
