>people always act in their self-interest
What about when they choose to act in ways that are disadvantageous or detrimental to themselves? Screw altruistic acts, even even arguably selfish acts don't always appear to align with self-interest. What about when people choose to go against their doctor's advice, or procrastinate, or isolate themselves do to their behavior, or anything that will harm them? How is that acting in one's self-interest?
because it feels good in the short term

Acting purely in self interest is something only women and children do and this is why everything turns to shit when those two groups have any power. If you can't sacrifice your personal well veing for the societal good at large you're pretty much trash.

How naive.

>you've misunderstood what "acting in your self interest" means
I know you mean "doing what you wanna do", but self-interest as "acts done for one's own benefit" seems more meaningful.

>"acts done for one's own benefit" seems more meaningful
So there has to be an objective measure of "benefit" and everyone has to be omniscient so they know what will cause it?

I don't believe everyone always acts in self interest
I believe there is and have been people who genuinely stopped caring about themselves, and decided to help others instead

>reddit spacing
You've been shitposting this a few times lately. What the fuck is "reddit spacing" and why has it been on 4chan for over a decade?

No, self-interest is acting in ways one believes will benefit them.
