What does /his/ think of Egon Krenz?
>shoehorned into leading East Germany when Honecker pussies out
>chill, goes along with Gorbachev's reforms to make the Eastern Communist Bloc Great Again!
>Berlins walls falls
>Western imperials teach him a lesson over being complacent in some Stasi bullshit that wasn't his fault and put him jail
>didn't actually so anything so he they let him out and he retires and chills in some German village
>goes on ZDF a few months ago casually defending his short East German DDR reign while wearing a casual polo like he's at the pub on a Sunday

Like so many socialist leaders near the end of the Cold War, he was a well-intentioned leftist trying do what's best for his citizens despite scare resources and political instability within the Eastern Bloc.

Everything
All I know about him is that for a very brief period of time during the reunification of Germany, us wacky GDR kids would greet each other with the phrase "Hallo Fans von Egon Krenz" ("Hello fans of Egon Krenz"). This was supremely retarded, but appropriate for the time.

Do East and West Germans like each other or is it still a work in progress?

There's this common platitude going around about "the wall in people's heads", but I've never experienced it myself when interacting with "Westerners". It is true that (parts of) East Germany are still largely considered backwards and, more recently, xenophobic and racist due to Pegida marches, etc., but overall, there's no significant social division.

Should I watch Deutschland 83 or is it shit?

I haven't seen it, sorry. You could give it a try, I guess. German TV productions are usually supremely terrible with the sole exceptions being documentaries and historical dramas, so there's a chance it might be good.
