Has there ever been a multi-cutural/ethnic nation or empire that hasn't broken up? I am curious because according to one Belgian historian Europe is headed towards continent wide civil war in the next 30 years.

So I ask you /his/, is there a multi-kulti empire or nation that didn't implode under its own weight?
Switzerland has been pretty good.
There isn't a whole lot that money can't fix.

EVERY empire to date has eventually imploded. You don't even get to "empire" status without including other peoples and polities which usually implies a multicultural character.

Sweden and Denmark comes to mind.

Britain, Switzerland and Iran spring to mind
You might also count Afghanistan which has been independent for centuries whilst juggling a shit-ton of different cultures and ethnicities. It's broken down but it hasn't broken up.

Rus, Central Empire, Great Britain, India
>multi-cutural/ethnic nation
Nation is by definition monolithic entity, it may've come from different peoples but by the time they become nation they are monolithic.

India hasn't been around long enough to count imo
>>2314405
There have been several Indian empires that persisted for long already.

Basically, the BILD, Sun or Dailymail of Austria. Don't read tabloids.

The same thing, except on the left.
His arguments are also pretty weird. For example, he claims that increased individualism in the late Roman Empire contributed to its downfall. What the fuck? What substantial change in individualism happened in the later Western Roman Empire?
