How did Roman Catholicism, Protestantism (And there is some Eastern Orthodoxy in there aswell, right?) end up in China and in these numbers?
I'm gonna say Silk Road fuckery

Sounds about right tbf.
OP /salute
Eastern Orthodoxy just because Russia and the Stans are so tight with China. As for the protestantism/catholicism maybe a holdover from western colonialism? It would explain why Hong Kong is so damn red compared to the rest of the south

You chart doesn't show numbers, but rather highlights areas within China.
The actual percentage of Christians in china is around 3%, meanwhile Buddhists occupy roughly 15% and Muslims about 2%. There's also a huge influx of people not identifying with any religion, roughly ~50%, as well as the folk chinese religions. Buddhism also mixes in with local Chinese religion so they may overlap in numbers.
