When did the US grow out of racism?

Or did it ever grow out of racist era at all?
>>
I don't know but that motherfucker is the worst offender.

It got worst with Obama. Fucker was always talking about "them vs us" when it came to racial politics (which is one of the many reasons why Trump won and Putin was constantly beating him in the diplomatic scenario).
>>
It didn't. Racism is a big thing culturally, has been for hundreds of years.

Doesn't help that it either over represents or under represents race; never will be equal.
>>
>>2299817
Yeah, honestly obama and trump both are just fueling the flames. There's been racism everywhere and it's going to say that way until robots shit money.
>>
>>2299687
It never did. The nature of racism in America changed. While most consider the American right to be the racist ones, it generally falls to the American left. That's not to say that there aren't racists among the American right, but it's far more pervasive among the left. The left believes that PoC (a racist term in itself) can't do anything by themselves and need white people to uplift them or stand for them. It's pretty much their entire election spiel regarding minorities.

What? Obama was as tepid and moderate as you can get on race relations, as is the norm for the Democratic Party (which was a genuinely left-wing party for maybe 12 years of the 20th century, plus 1896). One of his first speeches was telling black teenagers to "pull their pants up".

as a second hand recipient of american culture and UK resident, I'd say we were growing out of racism throughout the latter half of the 90s and most of the 00s

then divisive, permanently-seeking-offence, racial grievance politics started being taken more seriously and it became more and more of an agenda.

late 90s and 00s:
"people shouldn't pay attention to or treat anyone differently on the basis of race "

late 00s to now increasingly:
"don't you dare say that you're colour blind or my race should be ignored. At all times race should be considered an extremely relevent factor. If you don't pay attention to race you're sinning by being privileged. in order to ensure racial justice you need to flagellate yourself and race race race race race race"

we had SO much more progress towards people not caring that much about race and western english-speaking countries becoming post-racial societies where racial tribalism was as trivial as sports team affiliation.

but instead that good work that took place in teh 90s and early 00s has been derailed and people are being taught through media discourse (mtv, buzzfeed, vox, guest speakers on mainstream media news outlets) and explicitly in classrooms to feel divided by race , to feel personally hurt by greivances from single law enforcement incidents you have only vaguely heard about on tv and don't know the facts of, or events from hundreds of years ago. That or if you're part of the majority and therefore oppressor you're told to feel guilty and ashamed and that higher standards of behaviour apply to you than the thousands of black people publicly broadcasting visceral dislike of or racism towards whites without any negative social consequences and intimidated into not voicing your disagreement, which obviously creates either cognitive dissonance as they try and force themselves to be a good liberal or resentment as you recognise the bullshit.

either way this is worsening racial relations.

Well yea.

But
>as trivial as sportsball teams
I've seen what you guys do over sportsball mate.
>>
>>2300236
>Obama was as tepid and moderate as you can get on race relations
Blatantly wrong. He exacerbated tensions in nearly every national media frenzy regarding race. Notable cases: Zimzam, Freddy whatever the fuck, Ferguson, etc.
>>
>>2300254

Specifics.

>>2300277
>He could have been my son - Obama, after Trayvon Martin was shot
>>
>>2300280

You think that's some aggressive fanning of the flames? On the same level as KILL ANIMAL RIOTERS, BLUE LIVES MATTER
>>
>>2300236
you can't look just at Obama's own speaches, you have to look at how under his watch racial greivance-mongers became more and more entrenched within the democratic party.

Such that now the next generation of potential leaders in the party are like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCeoC7P7Wmo

you would have ONLY seen that kind of bizarre totally divisive shit in university campuses 8 years ago. No political party would ever support someone speaking in such inflammatory generalisations about an ethnic group and basically saying "you're right. you non-white people should resent all white people for our constant oppression of you which we all by default contribute to unless we attack other white people like I am"

It's really bizarre. It's like people have had this mental illness cast over them. a kind of mass dementia or irrational group behaviour like everyone running off a cliff.

It should be obvious to any unbiased individual that it is not a good thing to make racial generalisations about entire races or speak in a way which legitimises those beliefs.
But democrats have somehow had this brainwashing cast over them or over some of them and the rest intimidated into going along with it, whereby it is seen as the answer to race relations to divide the county between white and non-white and allow or spread messages generalising or resenting white people as a whole.
>>
>>2300290

Okay, there are a lot of idiots within the party (validated by the fact that BLM, unlike past civil rights movements, has no organized leadership and any dumbass can use the label). Do you think that's anywhere near the level of the racial tensions stoked by the incumbent Republican president (or perhaps more accurately, his puppetmasters Sessions and Bannon)? BLM rioters break windows; white nationalists shoot up mosques and churches.

We do not discriminate between spics niggers kikes or greasers, they are all equally worthless
>>
>>2299687
The biggest racist in America are black people.

what we see today is the result of >>2300240
it's a response

>When did the US grow out of racism?
It never did.

The question is, will it ever?
