Which schism can be said to have been worse for Christian Europe. The Catholic-Orthodox one or the Catholic-Protestant one?
Let's just say that when people complain about all the deaths caused by Christianity, they're referring to Protestants.

Not the "muh crusades" and "muh imperialism" and "muh inquisition" fags. They refer to Catholicism. These types of brainlets are rarely aware of the wars of religion.
>>2262655
what people are you talking about?
>>2262673
>both did horrible things
Everyone did horrible things. The Catholic Church did a lot of good things as well. More beneficial than not.
Protestants on the other hand have no redeemable features.
>>2262673
>the difference is that Protestantism caused more havoc in Europe
How exactly? Considering the 30 years war involved catholics invading protestant areas
>>2262750
What good catholic things do you have in mind?
Monks keeping knowledge alive is outweighed by them being forced to not bring their genes on.
>>2262760
Creating a cohesive society in which the arts, literature and people flourish and bringing people closer to God comes to mind.
>>2262766
>in which the arts, literature and people flourish
Voltaire's books and plays were banned and burnt by authorities upon release thanks to religious power
>>2262776
>one example in France

I would say art took a turn to the worse with the adoption of Catholicism and a turn for the better when people tried to rediscover their old Roman roots.
>>2262789
>rehashing Greco-Roman themes is better

>The focus of this destruction was nominally on objects that might tempt one to sin, including vanity items such as mirrors, cosmetics, fine dresses, playing cards, and even musical instruments. Other targets included books that were deemed to be immoral, such as works by Boccaccio, and manuscripts of secular songs, as well as artworks, including paintings and sculpture.

So you think societies should have no censorship what so ever? I should be able to teach national socialism in schools, hang swastikas in public places and call people nigger to their face?
Or is it only the censorship of things you don't like that you have an issue with?
>>2262829
I have no issues with censorship, im on 4chan after all.
But next time you post your WE WUZ scientists and artists an shit, remember not to add "flourished" as it was obviously tightly controlled
>>2262840
>shit, remember not to add "flourished" as it was obviously tightly controlled
First off they burned items. It says nothing about persecuting those who made or used those things.
Second, from gregor Mendel to Georges Lemaitre, Scietinst have always flourished in the Catholic Church. Unless you were an asshole like Galileo the Church let people do their thing.

>Savonarola’s influence did not go unnoticed by the higher church officials, however, and his excesses earned him the disdain of Pope Alexander VI. He was eventually excommunicated on May 13, 1497.
read what you post, please.
>>2262854
Didnt they burn Bruno?
I guess he must have been an asshole too, bit of an occupational hazard when dealing with the church it seems
>>2262648
>Protestant split
>bad for Europe
Enjoy worshipping pagan idols, faggot.
>>2262867
Also every guy pointing out obvious church faults justs prior to Luther. Assholes all of them.
>>2262867
>convicted of heresy for theogical reasons, had nothing to with science
>Judging historical events by 21st century standards
>>2262873
>Kill people who dont agree with my theology
>Burn books and art I dont like
The church has been judged and is found lacking moral leadership
>>2262886
>The church has been judged
Didn't know you were "the judge."
“Among you there will be lying teachers who will bring in destructive sects . . . And many will follow their wanton conduct, and because of them the way of truth will be maligned.” - II Peter 2:1-2

Any moral thinking person can see these acts are wrong, and should be condemned, not celebrated or defended

Catholics aren't Christian
