This is where I stopped reading.

The creeds are interesting to me because they really illustrate the history of the early church.

They essentially are a mechanism to point by point refute all the schisms that arose over the first few centuries. Basically "say you believe these things or get out".

When I was a little kid I thought I was a catholic because they say catholic in the creed, despite the fact that the official position of my church is that the pope is the anti-christ. It caused some funny misunderstandings.

The misunderstandings stem from the word "catholic" denoting "universal" initially, but then being corrupted into "Roman Catholic only".
