I don't consider Haiti a genocide, the reason the French were attacked was because of the worst slave conditions in the New World.

People say it was about race but they supported Poles and Germans. Germanic people were even put in the constitution as honorary blacks making them eligible for citizenship.

The Tutsi especially further south had assimilated Hutu nobles for some centuries, by the time Europeans came only a fraction of Tutsi could be said to have all the phenotypic stereotypes. They made people tutsi or Hutu based on cattle or nose shape or height and religious affiliation most people were mixed. It was sad desu.

Genocide is always provoked. That doesn't mean it isn't genocide. Also Poles and Germans aren't French, and a genocide targeting the French is just that.
