It's absolutely propaganda. Multiple different states in the same area does not constitute one state. Even if you count all the dynasties as continuous, the republic and communist china definitely don't count.

Compared to most Asian states they still had far more continuity because they had a culture that was spread so far that all Chinese states pretty much had similar cultural, they mostly used Han characters, etc.

Some parts of China were not as cohesive, though. The Western Xia were, for example, more Tibetan than Chinese, but are counted as a Chinese state in most histories.

Put it this way: if you were to go back in time say, 2000 years, you'd find chinese culture, language, governance to be strikingly recognizable, whereas were you to go anywhere else, you'd see much less parallel between past and present. Imean, the fuck does roman culture have to do with modern Italian culture?

If you compare it to satellites and overseas communities, sure. But in the Chinese mainland itself, Mao's stupid cultural revolution put paid to a lot of that.

You can't find the distinct cause it's not just Italy. But entire of the modern world is pretty much shaped by Roman influence. From Architecture, Art, Religion to Political institutions....

Because even when politically divided there was still a unity of culture and identity as being Chinese.

Euro culture is built from cultures like the Romans much the same as how modern Chinese culture is built from ancient.

The civilization split and rejoined but it was never displaced by external cultures. Even when invaded by Inner Asia the invaders didn't superimpose their own culture, but effectively became Chinese rulers themselves.
