Correct. And in this way, the leader of the Hebrews into Israel after Moses becomes a prophecy of Christ leading the world into salvation. It's yet another instance of the Old Testament foreshadowing the New.

Joshua is Yehoshua
What's the deal with the Lord's prayer in Aramaic?
Does it really say Father-Mother Logos?
No. His name was Yehoshua, Yeshu as an acronym was a clever way for medieval rabbis to express their disdain of Jesus without getting in trouble with the inquisition. He is still called this way in Hebrew but the real meaning behind it is mostly lost on the general public.
Isa Al-Masih.

Bruh, if you're a Japanese and your name is Sayonara(goodbye in Japanese), and you're a big shot and wrote a lot of paper about string theory in Japanese.
If the Americans wants to translate your papers into English. Should they translate your name into 'Mr. Sayonara' or 'Mr. Goodbye'?

But plenty of historical characters had their names changed and mangled in Latin and Greek transcriptions, and carried over to English.
Pretty much everyone whom we know primarily from Greek or Roman sources didn't really have the name we know them by.
Cyrus the Great and Xerxes weren't called that, and neither was Hannibal, Arminius, etc.

Not them but the point is still valid no matter how poorly the example.
Holy shit if I did not fully understand that this is 4chan where the autists call other people autistic, I might be concerned.
