Monsignore Siri was rightfully chosen with a needed 2/3 majority of cardinal votes. After a few hours however this decision was cancelled and the Holy See was taken over by a modernist and liberal candidate, cardinal Roncalli. Some believe that the rightfully elected pope faced a threat of schism by the liberal wing of the Officium or that the conclave was influenced from the outside, making a choice of card. Roncalli doubtful (at best).
