French military engineers in siege armor seem to an underrated category.

> centuries later adopt celtic style longswords
Wat

large, robust formations of infantry aren't so good at dealing with highly mobile, marauding warbands.
the later Roman army was more of a low cost, high endurance counter-insurgency force.

it's a cavalry sword

Have some weapons.

For what purpose is there an axe head instead of say, a bayonet?
>>2124713
>>2124715
Not sure, perhaps they though thrusting with knife on a small firearm doesn't have as much force as using the whole weapon as a handle for an axe.
>>2124707
This one looks fake.

I think Greek armor is easily the most aesthetically pleasing, dude. Everything about it is so fucking cool to me.
>>2126440
Yes i like the aesthetic of greek arour, i also have this picture that historian say is a perfect image of how the greek soliders looked
>>2126258
Those leeks never fail to make me laugh.
>>2127204
They were thinking they weren't going to do much foot combat and preferred the extra protection during a charge
>>2127204
>pointed feet
They are actually very convenient to put in the stirrups.

I would also like to get some context, from what I can infer by that guy's face is that he's some Hatsune Miku fan defending his waifu's honour.
Here´s some weird Indian shit, I guess related to those guys because both used Ellephants

On the Rerebraces of this armor you can see a leather liner where there are holes. Does this attach to an arming jacket, or what? How does the armor hang off you? And if so, where would you get one? All I can find is padded gambesons.
>>2127204
You're underestimating the ingenuity of Renaissance people. Armour pieces were often modular. You could simply remove the parts that would be bothersome to wear in combat.
>>2127204
>>2128519
Also, I think you're underestimating the amount of visibility sallets offer.

Literally what is the disadvantage to this? If you're forced to grapple with someone it's a fucking huge advantage to have spikes on your elbows.

All I got

probably because an axe has more noncombat utility than a bayonet, and for a pistol of that sort a more natural motion is swinging rather than thrusting
>>2127204
The points serve a purpose, namely to deflect incoming blows. The visor sits close to your face so you can get a good range of vision. Think about looking through a key hole. From a distance you can't see anything, but if you get close, you can see much more.
I love helmets with facial features because they would look either funny or fucking terrifying depending on how good the fighter was. Imagine if there was a shitwrecker with a moustache helmet that makes for a good story but losing your squad (or whatever military units were called back then) to a guy in plain helmet? That's not as interesting.
