Why has the US historically used insurance to cover health care costs? Isn't the point of insurance to cover medical emergencies? Has there never been any thought to something like NHS? What's the point if people can just get kicked off or can go bankrupt paying the insurance company after some catastrophe because otherwise their care costs more than their premiums?
From what i can gather, obama seems fairly intelligent but he was basically prevented from doing fuck all in improving the system. Can a yank explain any of this to me?
