Could anyone outline some key differences and similarities (or provide some reading sources) between the German & British empires at the beginning of the 20th century? I'm curious about political, economical, and social aspects.
I find it interesting how two related nations- one continental one maritime, domintated their said space in the world. Also the fact that they were both Protestant, the hot beds of industrial advancement (bar america) & have the characterized personas of "stiff upper lips" & "no nonsense".
Even today there is no denying their economical and industrial dominance in Europe

Not my area of expertise, but Germany was only a couple decades old, the British Empire was ancient. Germany most certainly did not dominate their space in the world, as that theory was put to test in 1914. Apples and oranges.

The British empire actually made money for Britain, as opposed to the German one.

>Similarities
Both were extremely autistic
>Difference
The British Empire was a paper tiger with basically no military might that could only rule over shitholes and had literally zero power in Europe while the German Empire was probably the single most powerful country in the world

>the British Empire was ancient
Not really
Most of the British Empire was built by conquering backward people in Africa and Asia beyween 1860 and 1890.
Pic related, in orange the British Empire at the beginning of the 19th century

Not OP, but Germany was facing pretty much every relevant force that could rival them in power. Had Britain been in a comparable situation they would have been BTFO'd in a comparable manner (especially given the fact that Germany alone already packed quite a punch, as it was seen during the Battle of Jutland). The point is: Germany was the dominant force in continental Europe during the late 19th and early 20th century, anyone who denies that is a retard.
