Whats with the spikes on Korean turtle ships?
Did it really make boarding these things that much more difficult?
And why wasn't this design used by other people if it was effective?
>leap on to ship
>get your feet, hands, or entire body impaled on spikes
yeah seems like not such a good idea to try and board that

It was specifically to counter the Japanese style of fighting during the Imjin Wars.
Japanese ships were essentially floating castles with one or two cannons. The soldiers would attempt to board and engage in and to hand combat.
That's a bit hard when you get mauled by Korean chongtong cannons from a mile away and your legs get fucked up from trying to walk on iron spikes to break into the ship to stab the Koreans with the 20 fucking cannons.

lmao just dont step on them nigga whats the big deal just what where you're going lol

Very little grapple points thus you have to jump onto the ship. This plays into the spikes, good luck not getting impaled. The reason it wasn't adopted widespread was because the japs loved to board so it was a hard counter.

dat shit be like a rolla costa nigga and yo bitch ass will drown in the sea since u can't swim.
Before cannons were common you wouldn't want to make it too hard for the enemy to board your ship because a lot of the time you actually wanted them to so that you could fight with the defender's advantage.

>People trying to fight you while you try to step in between the 4 or so inches between each spike on a rocking boat.
