Does this question presupposes there was no crucifixion? Or that there was a crucifixion but he resurrected and has been living among us since?

If there was a historical Christ, and he was alive today 2000 years later, world History would have taken a very different turn, so the question is moot, there would be no need for the Gospels as you would learn the "Word of God" from the man himself, no gospels means no Early Christian Church as we known it and then no schisms, we would all be living under an unified Church, separate denominations would simply not exist as there would be no room for different interpretations, whenever a Theological polemic starts all sides would simply ask Jesus.

Peter is actually the apostle to the Jews in the bible, and Jesus' letter to the seven churches from the Revelation 65 years later doesn't include Rome.

Jesus is not dead, that is the meaning of His resurrection. Religion by definition is an institution that seeks to mediate the relationship between the sacred and the profane, Christ is not a member of any religion since he is a constitutive part of the Holy trinity and requires no mediation with God.
