>When I think of religion at all, I feel as if I would like to found an order for those who cannot believe: the Confraternity of the Faithless, one might call it, where on an altar, on which no taper burned, a priest, in whose heart peace had no dwelling, might celebrate with unblessed bread and a chalice empty of wine. Everything to be true must become a religion. And agnosticism should have its ritual no less than faith.

Seeing this image as as a child is what actually sparked my interest in WWI.
Marines transport their seriously wounded atop a US army tank through the streets of Hue toward a helicopter evacuation point on 17 February 1968. Tanks were the only vehicles able to travel the streets because of rubble from buildings destroyed during the still-ongoing Tet offensive.

If they make another ww2 game (BF or COD) It would be cool if they could to the finnish theatre or north africa instead of the usual eastern and western front.
>>2064414
It would be cool if they stopped making WWII games and pick something else from the five thousand years of recorded history

>>2064991
>a human being ;_;
Yeah, I bet the Polish fighter ace is real fuckin' sad about the Germans he killed.
>>2064996
i meant it as the Poles look in his eyes looks like he showed no mercy to the Germans. I read stories of what Poles did to Germans from 1940-45, especially Polish pilots
>>2064991
Those symbolize planes IIRC, not human beings.
I wouldn't put it past a polish ace to buzz ejected german pilots though, considering the circumstances.

What are you talking about? Weren't there a lot of photographs of the American Civil War?
>>2066193
I'm talking about a battle in action, there was one from a civil war battle, but it was impossible to see anything through the smoke and distance
>>2066927
Show it, please. It's my favorite war.

This is way too small, I can't see anything.
>>2064414
It won't happen.
Most people who play BF/Cod probably think Finland along with every other country in Europe was under Nazi control during the war, or would think they're Germans because they wear the same helmets.
Not to mention that the majority of the most interesting/largest battles of the war took place on the Eastern Front.
>>2064816
Why do they wear hand-me-down American shit? You'd think a country like France would be able to make their own uniforms for their men
>>2064991
>Germans
>Human
that's where you're wrong
>>2067286
They did make their own uniforms, but it is just based off the American style, pretty much every western country did this post-WW2, for whatever reason. Probably similar to as of how everyone copied French uniforms in the 19th century, until the 1870's, where everyone then copied the Prussians.

Merian Cooper (left) and Cedric Fauntleroy (right), American volunteers in the 7th Polish Escadrille "Kocuiszko Squadron" during the Polish-Soviet War
Fun fact: Merian Cooper was the producer of 1933's King Kong, was aboard the USS Missouri to watch the Japanese surrender and was a vocal supporter of Senator McCarthys anti commie tactics, saying quote "REEEEEEE GOMMIES GET OUT"
>>2067764
also, Cooper was a veteran of the Mexican Border War, was wounded after crash landing in WW1 after putting out the flames on his DH-4 bomber by entering a spiral dive, escaped a Soviet POW camp during the Polish-Soviet war, was a member of Pan-Am's board of directors, co-invented the "Cinerama" style of projection, and has his own star on the Hollywood

This guy didn't even buy a fitting tunic. Is he just preparing in advance in case he gets even more fat?
>>2067433
Does not look at all like 1939 to me.
The tunics they're wearing are WW1 era, and there was no front to return from in 1939.

The sheer joy on that man's face always brings a smile to my lips. He must have been so fucking happy to have his picture taken. Some pale dude just walked up to him and was like "Yo wanna sit in front of this magic box for a bit?"

Who killed Patton?
>>2062103
Once he felt his English had improved sufficiently, Benga discontinued his formal education. He began working at a Lynchburg tobacco factory. He proved a valuable employee because he could climb up the poles to get the tobacco leaves without having to use a ladder. His fellow workers called him "Bingo". He often told his life story in exchange for sandwiches and root beer. He began to plan a return to Africa.[27]
In 1914 when World War I broke out, a return to the Congo became impossible as passenger ship traffic ended. Benga became depressed as his hopes for a return to his homeland faded.[27] On March 20, 1916, at the age of 32, he built a ceremonial fire, chipped off the caps on his teeth, and shot himself in the heart with a stolen pistol.[28]
He was buried in an unmarked grave in the black section of the Old City Cemetery, near his benefactor, Gregory Hayes. At some point, the remains of both men went missing. Local oral history indicates that Hayes and Ota Benga were eventually moved from the Old Cemetery to White Rock Cemetery, a burial ground that later fell into disrepair.[29]
