Is this a meme, or is there something to it?

I used to read shit from Bauval, Schoch and Hancock back in the 90s but all of them eventually degenerated into Reptilian tier horseshit.
That said there probably is something to the hypothesis but the conclusions it offers are pure garbage.
Geologists believe that it's water erosion due to scientific analysis.
Egyptologists and Historians reject that science because it upsets their timeline.
I'm going to have to go with the SCIENCE on this one as opposed to salty butthurt 'Egyptologists'.

I heard it explained by some old Jew, John Anthony West maybe? Either way, he explained it as a likelihood that ancient Egypt is much older than we thought, and much more advanced than we thought.

This. In my limited experience academics in the archeology field put too much stake on what they already believe and utterly reject any ideas to the contrary, they won't even humor them most if the time. After all, it's history, what's left to discover? ;^)

>The Sphinx might be eroded by water
This is fine.
>The Sphinx might be eroded by water which means there was an ancient race of lion people that lived 20 000 years ago and the Egyptian government is covering this up because revealing it would undermine their national identity
This is garbage.

It's just moisture damage, if it were rain damage then why is the head not similarly weathered? And the sphinx is firmly dated to Khafre, there is roughly 0% chance it is ten thousand years old.

>ancient race of lion people
Dkes he claim this? In the interview, he said the head was added much later, and the water erosion suggests a wet period, the last of which would have occurred before the current Egyptian timeline places the sphinx.

Head was added later, laddie

Bauval mentions the lion people in his book Secret Chamber from '99.
Giza plateau is much older, confirmed by science.

Fucking retard.

I don't know who Bauval is, the guy I was referring to is this.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Anthony_West
>>2050911
Bauval is the guy who came up with the Orion pyramid hypothesis. He, Schoch, West and Hancock form a tight knip group that pushes this shit in their books.
>>2050905
None of what you just posted refutes what that guy said. They propose alternatives that MAY explain SOME of the weathering, but do not explain the majority of the "water erosion"
