>My grandpa was such a work horse.
>I'm just average.
>Kids these days are so lazy.
How can every generation ever spew this meme with an apparent complete lack of self-awareness?
I'm 30 and my peers are already complaining about how entitled / lazy / metro college kids today are.
Historical guilt is cyclial
Also college student here, my generation is lazy, entitled, and weak.
I've got a friend whose grandparents escorted him through elementary school and can't take NyQuil as it's too strong

And what about the nature of this work?
If my grandfather worked a strawberry field for 6 hours and I worked s restaurant as s wait for 9 whom has worked more and whose job is harder?
It's more subjective than anything else

People glorify their pasts and are usually pretty driven and motivated towards money and work in their later years.
I'm only 25 and already people treat me like I'm a hardworking person because I've had multiple tough jobs. I didn't have them very long but no one asks that they just assume.
My Grandkids will only know about a few cool jobs I mention in conversations not the years of NEEThood.
Your friends are correct. Kids are lazy and unmotivated. Always have been.

>Kids are lazy and unmotivated. Always have been.
^This.
There's this littler process called "maturing". It's stunning to me that people are so unaware of it. Young folks have been scoring high on narcissism tests since they were invented, because their world is narrower.
