I don't know exactly what you mean but I know Jews often had to identify themselves through a unique style of dress in Christian Europe, so everyone would know who they are so they could ask them to bank on their behalf.

The "Jews are good with money" meme is literally from the fact that the Catholic church wouldn't allow lay Catholics to practice usury or interest-based banking. So they had to get Jews to keep them financially afloat on their behalf.
