Why is Islam the only religion that is "racialized?" What caused this phenomenon, and why are people who dislike Islam treated pretty much the same way as people who dislike brown people? This is coming from sincere curiosity and not any sort of agenda.

>Why is Islam the only religion that is "racialized?"
What about Judaism?

Good point, but followup question stands
>>2020911
Because people treat it as a race. Also wordd change
>>2020911
because of the perception of islam as an "arabic/asian" religion.
>>2020955
But why
>>2020911
Because the correct term would be anti-semitic but the jews have a monopoly on that.
>>2020911
Judaism and Mormonism are also kind of racialized to a degree. Romani and Cossacks are occupations that are racialized.

Becauses gods revelations to mohammed order the murder of non-muslems(apostates)
>>2020911
because race is a function of racism. constructing islam as a race is an epiphenomenon of the motive of the hegemonic race to produce others against which it can define itself and through which it can express its desire for dominance, power, violence, etc.

That might make sense within a certain framework. But just because it works within that framework does not make it a universal.
>>2021084
it is, however, the framework being invoked by his question. i agree with you, to a degree of specificity—economic necessity is the determinant factor here as anywhere.

Because racialization is to distinguish a people as distinct from the "white" "norm" so the further away from that nondescript, inoffensive, acultural American standard Muslims get the more they are racialized both by people who want to define them as a separate class of human being to suppress them and those who want to do the same for ideological reasons.
You can pick up on these things from skimming trashy romance novels, funny enough. Before 9/11 and the War on Terror, the Muslim Arab sheikh was a common archetype that was vaguely described as an upper class white guy with a nice tan, funny hat, and dominant morals that the heroine fixes with lots of privileged white girl sex.
