What are some other absolutely insane periods in Human History?

When did "democracy" become such a buzzword? As if its good for its own sake. A sacred cow of political theory here in the west.

I can't hear democracy being venerated without thinking its just a cheap appeal to the masses, the verbal equivalent of flag-waving.

I'm glad to see Jill Stein is getting so much attention desu. And seeing Trump get mad at her is a nice extra bonus.

Also I 100% guarantee you that if Trump had lost then he'd be demanding recounts left right and center. There's nothing wrong with recounts, unless you're worried that your favored candidate will end up losing.

My favorite crazy periods in history are periods of hyperinflation. The Mark during the interwar years is probably the most notable example, but the most fun one (ignoring massive human tragedy) is probably the Zimbabwean Dollar (technically /his/ since it began in the '80's).

They're all accompanied by revolutions, topsy-turvy public finance strategies and whacky regime changes.
