Is this guy the worst US Prez ever?
BUMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
I give him points for not escalating the Korean war into ww3, and not normalizing the use of nuclear weapons.

What are you on about? Stalin played FDR like a fiddle
>>2002199
This. FDR was in health crisis and it probably messed up his mind to think that Stalin was his friend and that "we can solve this in peace". Stalin made use of this and played him.
>>2002199
>>2002448
So not only FDR, but Wallace was being played as well? Stalin was no worse than Churchil, post-war with FDR looked promising. Truman was just a train wreck
And as Churchill admitted, Stalin never broke any of his promises (specifically referring to the plans that were contrived in splitting European countries between the two countries)

Boo hoo

It's well documented that Japanese civilians were grateful of the US for finally shutting down the stubborn imperial war machine that had been exploited them.
>>2002547
See there is another problem with using the bombs on the Japanese that no one points out.
We could have saved them to use on the Soviets.
Took too long to build those back then.
>>2002473
>post-war with FDR looked promising
No it didn't. FDR genuinely believed Stalin was interested in some sort of post-war "Popular Front" where the US and USSR would cooperate and lead the world into a new era of peace and prosperity. Fuck, FDR's entire relationship with Stalin was based on willful self-delusion - he sincerely believed that the power of his popular affability in the US was winning over Stalin

top kek
Truman is a god and triggers hard-lefties which is just a bonues

>unable to smooth out the US/USSR relationship that Roosevelt was building for years
That was a bit stupid from an american interests perspective. He could have accepted a repartition of the world with the USSR that was back then pretty much favorable in terms to the US.
>fire-bombing and atom bombs
Hey you all. Look what we are ready to do impose our interests and make America Great Again!
>CIA freedomfighting
More display of American values around the world, but also a direct consequence of having chosen confrontation with the Soviet Union instead of cooperation.
He probably was just a complete and absolute tool though. That policy doesn't make any sense from a national interest pov if not for the substantial and long encompassing power interests of american and transatlantic, especially english, lobbies and economic elites being the ones truly st the helm of american policy.

americans were already churning out bombs every 2 months at the time
i think they had another 8 bombs after nagasaki

America didn't 'choose' to forgo cooperation with the USSR. The situation between the two powers after the defeat of their common enemy put them very naturally at odds. Roosevelt was already disillusioned of his dream of a cozy post-war relationship between the US and USSR before he died.

>unable to smooth out the US/USSR relationship that Roosevelt was building for years
Before his death FDR was beginning to turn against the Soviets too. The Cold War was inevitable.
>air-bombs technically-defeated Japan, targets civilians towns for years, and then drops an atomic bomb
>drops a second atomic bomb
>all military leaders confirm that Japan was done and the a-bombs were completely unnecessary
Nothing wrong with this, saved many lives. The Japanese refused to surrender after one bomb was dropped, and even after both were dropped some hardliners tried to stage a coup to prevent surrender. There was no way they were going to surrender without the A-bombs, and an invasion of Japan would have been far worse.
>empowers the CIA for global covert ops
This is very vague.
>refuses to cooperate with post-war Russia intending to defeat them - only to create an endless loop of "bad russians!" "no, bad Muricans" that is ongoing to this day
