He wasn't a good leader for the nation. He was a great orator and force of unification, but that's it.

He lead his country into wars that were not necessary and were logistically impossible. He forced the nation into a collective suicide, which the Wehrmacht (Prussian) officers failed to stop. And that's entirely on both Hitler and the officers.

On the other hand, most historians agree that Hitler's attempts to mess with the German military command were detrimental.

There's a reason why one was respected even by his enemies and the other was not.

He was an obvious psychopath who had literally no respect for human life and used people for his own needs and then discarded them, usually by killing them, the moment they stopped being important to him.

He led his country into a suicididal needless war of expansion and doomed millions of them to death all in the name of achieving his dream for a new completely self sufficient german empire. And once it was apparent he had lost that war, he continued it needlessly just to "punish" the german people for failing him in his impossible dream. The USSR peaked AFTER Hitler was dead and Germany was torn in two. If anything, Hitler provided a stepping stone for the USSR, a chance to show it's military prowess and absorb destabilized turf in Eastern Europe.
