How capable are humans of conspiracy?
Where is the cutoff point for how many people can partake in a conspiracy and not get snitched on? Is it really possible to form a shadow government, honeypot hundreds of pedophiles, tape and blackmail them to act as figurehead politicians?
If there was really an illuminati/NWO type deal, could someone give an example of the practical scale that a conspiracy could reach and be maintained?

there is no limit, you need compartmentalization

And it got leaked to the Soviets while it was running and shortly after it was finished we knew everything about it.

Grand conspiracies are literally impossible to maintain for an extended time.
There are mathematical models with very generous parameters that show this:

Good question that shows you're a smart guy.
No, grand conspiracies as imagined by some are almost impossible, because once you involve so many people some are bound to expose you either intentionally or by being careless, and chance of this increases during time.
Clinton and related e-mail scandals, while containing a lot of truth, are probably laced with pure lies for propaganda values. Standard operating procedure of Russian intelligence, the guys who actually acquired them and then used Wikileaks to distribute.
World is a far more chaotic place than people think. That's both scary and kinda relieving at the same time.

All the major scoops in the emails were admitted as true by the emailers - if wikileaks/'russians' wanted to put propaganda in there they could have cooked up a wet dream for Trump supporters. It was far too tame to be forged.

I knew a guy who helped organize lefty polit militant flashmobs, like squatting a public building for a weekend and have a party. Those events often ended with heavy police efforts and the mandatory street battle. Also many of their phone lines where tapped and there has been at least two cases of undercover agents used.
Still they managed to pull of this events year by year to good success.
He said to me the two secrets to success is to a) never use phones but to only talk face to face, and to b) only trust a small bunch of people that have mutual social control over each other, like living in the same commune or being related by family. This way they managed to organize up to 100 people, raid a place with trucks and equipment, secure the perimeter and get the music on.
Now 100 people does not sound like a lot, but with modern social media the events then suddenly grew to several thousand people within the hour, at which point they basically had won.
Now if lefty crustcore punks can into psyops, then groups within the government can to.
