We hear a lot about how the US broke every treaty they signed with the natives. Are there any examples of Native Americans breaking US treaties? Were the natives always on the defensive or were they ever the aggressors to American settlers moving out west?
like every question concerning natives
depends on the tribe
only consistent commonality is that they all got fucked by the US in the end

The reason those treaties were broken was because the First Nations largely chose the losing side on almost every North American war.
>French-Indian
Natives on both sides but more with the French. France loses and French supporters get fucked (Iroquois sided with the Brits and did fine)
>Pontiac's rebellion
Great Lakes indians chimp out on British colonizers and get fucked.
>Revolution
Far more sided with the Brits than Americans. Americans win and revoke the shit out of their treaties
>1812 and Mexican wars
Not much to say really but it gave whites more room to expand and increased the border confusion with natives (also they help Jackson take New Orleans, making him a national hero kek)
>Civil War
Natives try to stay out for the most part but at the same time try to help the Confederacy. Confederacy gets railed and the Natives are now in the crosshairs
>Indians Wars
Indians rebel against hardened Union soldiers. Union soldiers steam roll them outside of Little Big Horn
I do feel bad for them but they were absolutely terrible at choosing the winners. When you keep on losing wars you can't expect to keep all of your land. Ironic that they're put in charge of gambling operations now.

reason they sided with French and Brits is that they are more or less a temporary evil
France was mostly hands off and Britain though established colonies didn't want to piss the natives too much and be bogged down and would've kept their colonies in line if they kept them.
>tfw Frogs just want to set up trading post and you're cool with it
>tfw a few days later they "sell your land" to the Brits/Americans
though I couldn't for the life of me understand why they sided with Jackson

Yeah, I get why they sided with them but the fact is that it did make them look bad to the winners of those wars and being friends of losers does nothing for you.
