Will we ever see more progress in terms of energy, manufacturing, human development, and agriculture in Central Asia? I'm thinking more in terms of the progress which occurred in gulf countries such as the United Arab Emirates.

Honestly I'd rather live in Central Asia than the UAE.
>tfw you will never go on a road trip starting in Lisbon and ending in Karachi without worrying about being beheaded, like the britbongs used to do in the 60s

Definitely, but not so much as they aren't that rich in natural resources.

OP here. Just curious, why? I know Central Asian countries have beautiful landscapes. but otherwise what does it have going for it?
>>1958728
I'd rather not have runoff from nuclear waste in my water

Not having arabs or wahhabism
>>1958760
>Wahhabism
The UAE is not Saudi Arabia though, it doesn't impose Wahhabism on its people. It's true that technically they have the Sharia law, but a lot of the laws have never been followed, and is more for "show."
>Not having arabs
Can you even tell the difference between an arab and an afghani?

Have you never seen the capitals of Kazakhstan or Turkmenistan? They're just like the gulf states. They spend their oil money on super modern architecture.
Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the other hand... They're just fucked. Too mountainous and without any natural resources.
>>1958725
They're too removed from global waterways

> United Arab Emirates
> progress
The biggest leap in progress in CA happened during Soviet times -- entirety of of infrastructure and most of the cities were built during that time
Some of that was lost during disastrous 90s but oil bux is propping up them once again

>energy
Kazakhstan is one of the worlds biggest natural gas producers
