The Battle of Britain defended Britain itself, the heart of the empire and the last real threat to the Axis Powers at the time (until the Soviets and Americans came in). If the Battle of Britain was lost, WW2 was lost.

Singapore is Singapore. Yes the defeat was embarrassing and unfortunate for the British, but it wasn't crushing. Plus they still ended up winning the war in the region AND retaking Singapore right at the end.

Japan focused its entire military might on a trade post while Britain was focusing on Germany and could only muster some militia and obsolete aircraft in that particular region of the world. It was less embarrassing than Dunkirk and the capture of over a million Soviets during Operation Barbarossa.

There were some things the British could have done like make more preparations to repel a land attack and improve competency among officers and generals, but they would have inevitably lost, it would be years before the British would have been able to relieve the siege of Singapore. They would have only succeeded in depleting Japan's war resources a little more.
