I've often seen people dismiss the notion that American culture has been manipulated by hostile foreign elements as a "tinfoil conspiracy theory" but I've never really understood what is so crazy about it.

We know for a fact that the Soviets wanted to destabilize American hegemony so why wouldn't they use every means available to achieve this end? Perhaps the greatest difference between the USA and the USSR was the open liberal culture that tolerated the free exchange of ideas in contrast to the tightly controlled, regulated and censored culture behind the "iron curtain." Is it really so crazy to believe that the Soviets would support pro-communist ideologues in American culture making institutions such as academia and the media? Essentially they use liberalism against itself by exploiting free speech to promote their own ideology. It's similar to what we see today with Muslims using free speech as a platform to promote fundamentally illiberal ideas such as sharia law.

What is so crazy about this?

I agree yet many people seem to think that this happened "organically" within American culture without any outside influence and to suggest otherwise gets you labeled as a nut-job conspiracy theorist.

What gives???

Where's the communism in the US? The very mention of the word is like evoking the nazis and you are imediately labelled unamerican.

believing the Soviets funded socialist movements in the united States is very different from believing the yuri bezmenov meme about a cadre of kgb officers providing academics a script to follow. also the latter takes a shit on how good the cia/FBI counter intelligence programs were at dismantling socialist organizations that were legitimately dangerous (like the black panthers)

The Soviet Union with all its nukes and the rise of the military-industrial complex through Cold War proxy battles, the threat of nuclear armageddon in Cuba, the Civil Rights movement, anti-Communist hysteria, crack and heroin epidemics, or rising inequality and the impact of the drug war couldn't destablize America but somehow "SJWs" on Twitter whining about muh patriarchy and trannies on magazine covers can? Color me surprised when I look at /pol/ infographics and dismiss them as tinfoil conspiracies. And I swear I've seen this same infographic before except it blamed the Jews for everything.
>>
>>1917447
I don't claim to know the specific people involved but why is it so ridiculous to believe that academia was infiltrated by communists?

>>1917480
It's not an either/or situation, all those things you listed AND the SJW movement had foreign support. If you were to trace the trajectory of American culture you would have to be blind not to notice a hard turn to the left with the what is literally called the "cultural REVOLUTION." Do you honestly believe that the Soviets weren't supporting the anti-Vietnam war movement?
>>
>>1917631
The sjw movement of today came from Bush's years in power. And the word revolution does not belong to communists, it means a sudden, radical, or complete change. I don't deny Soviets trying to undermine the society in the US, but to make them the boogeyman and claiming they are behind all the leftist movements that exist today is overly simplified and inaccurate. This sounds like todays meme of Russia influencing rightwing movements in Europe and the US.
>>
>>1917685
I agree that the SJW movement achieved cultural prominence during the Bush years but it didn't just appear out of nowhere. Already in the 70s academia was pushing to normalize homosexuality and it was in 1973 that it was removed from the DSM. Also lets not forget the sexual revolution and the women's liberation movement which also have their origins in the 60s and 70s. These developments laid the foundation which allowed SJWism to become mainstream during the Bush years.

Furthermore you agree that the Soviets were trying to undermine American society but then say that it's wrong to make them a "boogeyman." Do you think they were going half-speed or something? If you admit that they were influencing American culture then that means they were certainly involved in supporting all the social upheaval from the mid 20th-century onwards. It's not like they didn't have the resources or the willpower to do so, they were the second most powerful nation on the planet.

Because such theories vastly overstate the competence and resources of the Soviet Union to accomplish said goal.

It's nothing more than trying to find hidden strings where none exist.

>b-but muh progressive agenda ruining everything

Humanity is naturally progressive. If not we would still be Hunter gatherers or living in the feudal system. Christians and Enlightenment thinkers were the SJW left of their days with muh all men are equal in god's eyes and god given rights. Is it really a shock that these ideas form in places where ideas and knowledge are concentrated and exchanged?

Those conspiracy theories sound ridiculous because they are. It's the same as all conspiracy theories and /pol/ memes are just as bad as the liberals they hate. They just spin shit up to conform to their own world view because reality is whatever they want it to be.

Seriously consider that these are the same people that believed that all civilizations of significance were nordics, literally on the same level of WEWUZ, and try to take any shit they spout seriously.

It goes into tinfoil land when it becomes, "Everything I don't like is part of the Marxist Cultural infiltration."

>I can no longer sit back and allow communist infiltration, communist indoctrination, communist subversion, and the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.
Cuz, at that point, that's what you sound like.

There was a much stronger communist movement in America before the USSR than after, so if anything, they were failing miserably. The Red Scare put the lockdown on that "infiltration" and a whole lot beyond it.

And to claim that the KGB, to this day, is fueling LGBTQURTAXSZY acceptance is just pure insanity. You can trace the organic growth of most of that movement, and the movements it piggy backed on.

Especially when you consider, even today, most Americans have no idea what "socialism" or "communism" (or even "progressivism" or "liberalism") is, and basically treat them as curse words to be applied to any social or political movement they don't approve of, resulting in a sort of doublespeak even George Orwell would have been astounded by.

But now you no doubt think I'm a paid part of the conspiracy, so there ya go.

There is evidence of minor cells that fell apart almost before they even really began, most of them before the 1950's.

There isn't evidence of any sort of large scale Communist infiltration of Western academia and media. In fact the opposite is true as said in this thread. There was a larger Communist movement in the States before the Soviet Union tried getting involved.

The problem is it imagines the US is passive the whole time while being "corrupted" by its enemies, it vastly overestimates the reach and power of its enemy, all other factors or actors are ignored (such as the CIA despite them doing plenty of meddling at home and abroad), and it is usually followed by "everything I don't like is connected" type theories. Conspiracy theories like Prouty's "The Secret Team" are better simply because they acknowledge people other than intellectuals matter and there is a lot of shit going on in the world. In many right wing conspiracy theories only intellectuals matter (and only a certain type at that) and you can find frequent mention that communists have infiltrated the government despite the left's many, many setbacks.

>How can people adopt an ideology radically opposed to the reigning economic model?

>I know! It must be a brainwashing conspiracy! It slipped past the CIA, FBI, NSA and every NATO aligned intelligence agency but this youtube video full of misquotes and historical inaccuracies uncovered it!

>Nobody is getting indoctrinated holy god damn shit.
well you're clearly a victim of said indoctrination because you can't see it. That's how brainwashing works.
What would you call this class? How does it do anything other than teache people to think a certain way?

Because there's no evidence for it anymore due to the late Soviet Union destroying a large amount of records detailing their espionage exploits. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, the current scandal in Korea is a perfect example of how sometimes the things that seem just a little too unbelievable are the truest.
>>
>>1917377
It is not crazy, just human error.

The conspiracy theory overinflates the connections between different groups. For example social science faculties are influenced by a variety of schools, of which the Frankfurt school is just 1, it does not prove that every social science faculty in the country took their orders from the Frankfurt school.

This is just 1 connection, you would have to prove that every connection is solid to prove that the Frankfurt school orchestrated all the problems at the bottom of Red Pill.png

A large number of individuals holding the same opinions on every single issue, using the same lingo and having a herd mentality are INDOCTRINATED.

>>
>>1919387
Not everyone, just people who defend the sources of said brainwashing and act a predictable way because they've been taught to act that way.
Here's a somewhat unrelated question, do you think diversity quotas are a good thing? Should they be mandatory?

Not an answer you are dodging the question, you know why? Because you know they are stupid (diversity quotas) but are to scared to say so, you know why? It's related because it shows your indoctrinated mindset. Most leftist believe equally of outcome should be enforced and I'm simply asking you if you believe that. To find out how brainwashed the person I'm talking to really is.

appeal to authority is when you cite a person for a claim when they have no direct expertise for the claim

why do islamists or anti-western nations use western technology when they want to defeat or subude the west?

the difference is that such research is condemned and never spoken of outside of fringe sites like this where the government can't ruin your career for going against their accepted science

education and "science" is heavily politicized due to being funded mainly by the state, the state doesn't want to promote or accept things which goes against it, so science which is percieved as negative will never see the light of day due to the already established perimeters

it's the same shit with new discoveries, they're under siege until the government finds it to be appealing, there's no "dude lol no rules apply you can research anything here" world that people thinks there is in academia

What exactly do you think "getting caught" entails? This is America, not the Soviet Union you don't go on trial for spreading foreign ideology here. Nothing can be done other than point out the elephant in the room, and when someone inevitably does people like you call him crazy.

It's pointless to argue with Communists because they by default refuse to recognize other Communists as legitimate Communists, resulting in this absurd scenario we find ourselves in where apparently none of the Communists in academia agitating for revolution are actually Communists since they don't abide by whatever special snowflake branch of leftist theory the individual Communist you're arguing with adheres to.

It's like when the Little Green Men invaded Ukraine.

American conservatives are traditionally isolationist. Only in the second half of the 20th century did some become interventionist. (Neoconservatives)
American conservatives traditionally rejected deficit spending, neoconservatives (Reagan, the Bushes) think cutting taxes is good (it is) but they don't also think we should reduce government spending (hence why they run big deficits)
So bush was not a traditional conservative, he was a neoconservative which only really shares the name

>sjw's use the same flawed arguments and the same made up words (homophobe, islamophobe)

People of the same political alignment the same ideas and terminology is somehow new? Take the alt-right for a current example, they all use the same core concepts : "Cultural marxism", "anti white", "degeneracy", etc. I doubt this means they're part of some conspiracy.

>All this BS is coming from somewhere. These none logical ideas clearly come from sociology departments of universities.

Don't think so, the socio political history of the USA has pretty well defined key events.

>Also the fact we have diversity quotas is also evidence of this, along this the accompanying diverity officers to enforce "diversity"

How exactly? You've mentioned this point before of things being proof of something without establishing any connection between them.

Yes but someone planted the seed of "you can identify as ANYTHING! Identity is a social construct, I learned that my first day of mandatory diversity class.

People of the same political alignment sharing the same ideas and terminology*

> I came to these conclusions on my own.
Spoken like truly brain washed person. :^)
> I'm describing an certain type of people, of course I use similar language to some also describing the same people.
Like certain type of people who just fear Islam described as Islamophobes???

>I came to these conclusions on my own.
yea right, like you don't browse pol

you only hate forced diversity because muh white genocide, not because it goes against equal opportunity, meritocracy and equality in general
>>
>>1920340
That doesn't prove they are taking orders from the grand poobah of SJWs.

They are people butthurt over homophobia, racism and sexism who generate these memes on their own.

The solution is to convince them that constructive criticism is a good thing and disagreeing with them doesn't necessarily mean you are out to get them.
>>
>>1920413
Do I have to spoon feed you everything you brainwashed simpleton?
https://youtu.be/txukr5zgHnw
>>
>>1920416
I don't want forced diversity with enforce quotas that actively discriminate against whites and Asians
Do you think racism is ok when it's helping blacks?
>>
>>1920416
I watch a lot of history documentaries and notice the common patterns of history. You clearly don't.
>>
>>1920429
it hurts Asians much more btw

just hand out EQUAL opportunity and if Asians have the highest frequency on top, so be it

are you against this?
>>
>>1920433

>history documentaries

>The Greatest Story Never Told
>>
>>1920417
Yes but they've been primed to see every disagreement as a class struggle (in this case replace class with gender/race/sexuality)
>>
>>1920406
> someone planted the seed
Identity is a social construct. That doesn't means that you can identify as anything... As you aren't really a society. So, that is less a *planting seed* and more like corruption of an idea. Like in some math class people learn about imaginary number and some retard after lesson claims on Internets, that number aren't actully real and time is a cube or some creationist after biology lesson decides, that chimpanzee is your grand father. Knowledge is legit, retarded conclusions aren't part of a plot.
>>
>>1920423
Please do, please tell me what dey are not telling me, I want more laughs.

A video of speach made by a retard who overrides the speach with dramatic music is not enough.
>>
>>1920441
Nope, but you dodging my question about affirmative action being racist against whites and Asian shows you clearly think that's acceptable
>>
>>1920433
>history documentaries
go read some primary sources instead

btw your post looks like sjw arguing why trump is fascist

it's really good
>>
>>1920458
I just said I'm against it you fucking slimy worm and for the right reasons too, unlike you.
>>
>>1920457
International socialist want the UN to become the world government. If you don't see this you are really blind.
>>
>>1920459
I read lots of books on history too, don't worry.
Just because you don't like the facts doesn't change them.
Ignorance is bliss.
>>
>>1920469

that's a fact i like

>it hurts Asians much more btw

>just hand out EQUAL opportunity and if Asians have the highest frequency on top, so be it

>are you against this?

Nowhere did you condem the actual institutional racism that exists. If anything your entire post/rant was trying to paint me as a white supremacist (which I'm not)
So I could only assume you support it.
Once again you are proving my point about how you leftists argue, character assassination (don't believe him he's a white supremacist) followed by not answering the question and asking your own question. Good think I've learned how your entire "argument" goes.
>>
>>1920480
Not an argument
>>

>So I could only assume you support it.
read this post again>>1920416

read it very carefully, i even mention equality, literally

do you browse pol?
>>
>>1920512
Not really, do you browse leftypol?

>you only hate forced diversity because muh white genocide, not because it goes against equal opportunity, meritocracy and equality in general

Nope I hate it because it is not equality of opportunity. Once again you're constructing a straw man to attack. Nowhere did I argue white need/deserve and special treatment. You are the one saying all these things kido
>>
>>1920512
Also the state shouldn't be importing millions of people with my tax dollars.
Do you think your taxes should go to paying to import people who in many cases are illiterate IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE?

hmm, let me see, i mention equal opportunity, you tell me I am going against equality of opportunity - you lied

you call me racist against whites and Asians, when i talk in my post about equality for people and judging based on individual merit, literally mentioning meritocracy - you lied

finally you tell me you don't browse pol

nah, it's a lie, no doubt

You still haven't outright said affirmative action is bad and should be abolished. You keep dodging the question because you're scarier to said it.
>you won't get kicked in the brain there, by your buddies, you should just go
I'm not the one making literally no argument. You are. It's pretty funny desu.
Also refute these
