Was Liberalism a mistake ? It gave birth to many problems in our modern society.

this is your reminder that Robespierre did LITERALLY NOTHING wrong.

"Many problems" is rather vague. What are you referring to, specifically?

Liberalism is great, classical liberalism (libertarianism) that is. Individualism and maximum freedom is the best way for humans to live.
>>

I like this chart much better than the why it is normally presented. I especially like that it puts Hitler and Stalin in nearly the same place rather than making Stalin hard-left and Hitler hard-right. Because they both did pretty much the same things.
>>
>>1917651
clinton is in the wrong place, he should be more to the economic liberty side
>>
>>1917651

Why exactly is Reagan classified as "Technophobic"? That's the only part of this chart I don't really like. Reagan was, if anything, too optimistic about technology. He thought he could shoot down nukes with laser beams and such.

>>

Problems turn up anyway, the Chinks never had liberalism but they had plenty of problems. Liberalism was the first step on the path to human liberation, we're not there yet but who among us would want to go back to the "good old days" of arbitrary state and church power?
>>
>>1917359
It fixed many and created many. Shit happens yo.
>>
> It gave birth to many problems
> Oh noes! Women can vote! The true horror!
So called problems are joke compared to problems of the past. It is expected for progress to created new problems while solving more pressing issues of the past. Even invention of fire created new problems around it that was never before.

Yes

why start at Liberalism, why not at tribalism or agriculture ?
>>

Liberalism created nationalism and the nation state
>>

Granting women voting privileges was the single most catastrophic error in all of human human history.

>muh vagina
>much reproductive rights
>much pay gap
By comparison the technicians at Chernobyl were guilty of the equivalent of putting their t-shirts on inside out and Hitler's invasion of Russia the equivalent of getting off at the wrong bus stop.
>>
>>1920098
Women show up to vote more than men, if you have a problem with women voting get you and your bros to go out and vote and bring parity.
>>
& Humanities was a mistake.
>>
>>1920104
>bring parity
Impossible considering a healthy society requires that women outnumber men.

>He thought he could shoot down nukes with laser beams and such
He wasn't wrong. The U.S. has had some very promising research into laser ABM tech after the SDI was deemed unrealistic. The issue with SDI was that it wasn't technologically feasible in the 1980's, at least for the costs involved.
>>
>>1917359
The real issue with liberalism is that it's a continuation of enlightenment political ideas which were based on one "truth": all men are created equal. The reality is that no one is created equal. The whole foundation of the ideology group is founded upon a lie. There's a reason that the idiocy that is Marxism is stated as Enlightenment taken to its intended extreme: it is compensation for the truth, an attempt to make people equal despite the reality that such a thing is impossible.
>>
>>1917359
No liberalism wasn't a mistake, extremism was.
>extreme classical/neo liberalism has led to both shitty working conditions in the victorian era and the current issues with wealth distribution and the oligarchs of Western democracy.
>social liberalism led to overtly powerful unions and events like the winter of discontent
Economically speaking liberals need to balance the two to promote individual innovation and yet provide opportunity for everyone to attempt said innovation without deterring them from even trying.
In regards to the social aspects of liberalism, individuality is in my opinion the most important aspect of being human. Why should the government tell you what to do and how to think? Liberalism promotes individuality as long as you don't harm anyone (see Mills harm principle) and thus freedom of thought and action.
Liberalism is what makes 4chan great, we are all anonymous and thus are not influenced by societal pressures and being the 'norm.' sure we fight and we don't agree on most things but it is the fact that we can say what we want and discuss any issue as we truly believe, that makes 4chan great and subsequently we have liberalism to thank for that.
>>
>>1921157
>overtly powerful unions
Fuck off
>>
>>1921157
Fuck you your just wrong
>>
Liberalism was nice when it was based on traditional liberties, like the English, the Germans and the Polish did.

It were French philosophers, who began to base their liberalism on "rational" principles which they took off their asses, which fucked up everything, since this "rational" liberalism easily became totalitarian when confronted.

I will agree that unions are too weak now but kys if you think that the unions being able to literally control the government is acceptable you need to fuck off back to your corporatism shit hole. Its all about moderation m8.

Americans are dumbfucks who denatured the meaning of liberalism and made it completly different.
Pro-tip: a liberal isn't a worshipper of the state wanting to destroy free speech and right to bear arm, it's the opposite.
>>
>>1922596
>Americans are dumbfucks who denatured the meaning of liberalism and made it completly different
Europeans denatured the meaning of liberalism and turned it into the leftist movements that exist today. You literally cannot blame the United States for this.
>>
>>1917359
on the other hand it fixed many problems of classical society
>>
>>1922608
Except the word "liberal" still holds its original meaning in Europe, so you just pulled that right out of your ass.
