>mfw someone at work tells me the industrial revolution started in 1890
What are some things people say to show they don't know their history?
I met a girl that thought Bill Clinton was the first president when I worked as a cashier at a supermarket.
>>1861251
I once had a kid ask me if George Washington was the first white president.
>>1861275
Seems like a reasonable enough question to me.
>>1861275
It's true he was the first white president
>>1861275
...
>Friend thought that voodoo originated in South America
> Same friend thought that the OK Corral incident was only a movie
>Guy prides himself that he knows everything about the Civil War and that time period
>>1861275
What did you tell him?
Are you sure he didn't just mess up and actually meant 1790?
>>1861251
The Wars of the Roses was when Yorkshire and Lancashire fought each other.
>>1862509
I'm sure because he argued with me after I tried to correct him.
>Hitler killed 6 million Jews
>>1861275
Well technically it is true.
He was the first president, and by extent the first white president.
You could be an ass and say "Peyton Randolph", but he wasn't the first president of the United States of America, but the Continental Congress.

Hey man, for a while I though voodoo was of African origin

>"America was the first country that abolished slavery"
>"Russia won the World War 2"/"America won World War 1 and World War 2"
>>1861251
Which dynasty is Putin from?
>>1864451
But we did win World War 1 and 2. We even got the surrender documents from the enemies to prove it.
Also, the US Civil War was about States Rights, and not the States Right to have legal slavery.
Fellow frenchies might feel my pain:
>the Dreyfus affair occured only because the French were such God-damned antisemites
>>1864481
Are you baiting or are you being serious?
>>1864451
Technically speaking, weren't the Perisans the first to abolish slavery?
Within America itself, Vermont was the first state to abolish although it wasn't recognized as a state at the time.
>>1861251
Templar conspiracies.
>>1864418
But it was all of those things, heathen scum
>>1864481
>Also, the US Civil War was about States Rights, and not the States Right to have legal slavery
I know it's b8 but there was a number of times where state's disagreed with national government making laws and it never became anything other than huffing and puffing. Slavery was literally the only issue that could have caused it. Not to mention the supremacy clause is crystal clear in the Constitution and is one of the biggest reasons why it replaced the Articles of Cinfederation. National law trumps state law because if it is the other way around you have a major free rider problem where states try to get other states to pay for national programs like the army. Now fuck off hill billy.

Everything involving sumerians, to be honest. If someone who has no studies related to history (or similar disciplines) starts talking about Sumer, you better be 90% sure he believes in alien/reptilian conspiracies. Even if he doesn't explicitly say it.

I know nothing about the Dreyfus affair. Please elaborate.

>Germans were the only bad guys in both World Wars
Why?
>>1865039
Cause winners write history and germany is quite similar to austria, also to Japan and Italy somehow
>>1865086
>Cause winners write history
Oh, right. Thanks for clarifying that
>Germany in the (insert time period before 1871)
>the Romans were (insert broad generalizations covering hundreds of years)
>Spartans were awesome, they weren't gay like Athens
>the founding fathers were basically modern day evangelical christians
>slavery was only really practiced/introduced by whites
>basically any statement about eastern religion/mythology by a college professor aged 35-60, unless they are a professor of eastern religion/mythology
>confusing sikhs and muslims
>confusing muslim sects
>general geographic ignorance, i.e not knowing czechoslovakia isn't around anymore, not knowing yugoslavia isn't a thing anymore
>at the time of the American Revolution, England was the most powerful country in the world
>WW2 was won by x
>Napoleon was a manlet
>Stalin was Russian
>anything your average american says about anything not specifically talking about US history, and even then take it with a grain of salt
>anything involving Mexicans bitching about the Texas revolution
and many more
>>1865167
Who was the most powerful country at the time of the American revolution?
>>1865224
France in terms of military might. A land army 3x the size of Britain. Spain in terms of resources.
>>1861251
Delete this, it scared me.. I'm serious
