How does this even happen? They lived decades apart. I was so triggered I put down the book immediately and haven't picked it up since.

The latter I suppose. It was describing the background of the "Great Game" between England & Russia (with the time frame of around ~1830) but specifically "Tsar Nicholas II" when it was obviously describing Nicky Uno.
