Is completely leveling a city a la Guernica or Dresden no longer allowed or something?
If it's still legal why did it not happen during Korea, Vietnam or the Gulf War?

what's Allepo?
>>1859760
Total war.
>>1859760
Neither city was leveled. Even the absolute devastation of Dresden only killed about 3% of its population.
It's not done primarily because it's not very effective as a morale destroying factor, and modern wars are generally non-total, so its industrial application is generally not a major factor.
And you did have enormous strategic bombing in Vietnam. Go look up Operation Linebacker. (The second one, that is)
>>1859807
Yeah, but is it still legal?
>>1859760
It is still happening, even in Europe
Just look at Debaltsevo
>>1859841
Yes, you just have to get a permit
>>1859760
It definitely happened in Korea.
Attempts were made in Vietnam.
>>1859760
What do you mean by "legal"?
>>1859887
according to Geneva convention, probly
>>1859807
Not even Aleppo is as bad as Dresden.
>>1859840
>dresden
>not levelled
there were like, three buildings standing
everything you see today is reconstructed, most of the city centre was redone in the last 10 years

>there were like, three buildings standing
Because the central district of the city was the only part of it? Hell, the rail lines that went through, to, and around the city were hardly disrupted. The petrochemical plants in the industrial ring kept producing. That's hardly consistent with the city being "leveled".
