I often hear people complaining about how historical movies make their protagonists more 'moral' by modern standards to appeal to a modern audience. Also that such people wouldn't pass muster as being "good people" by modern standards, even if they would be considered such at the time. So I have a question for /his/: what pre-20th century historical figure could be made a genuine hero of a movie or TV show or whatever, without blatantly white washing them? What historically significant person qualifies as a good person by 21st century standards?

Alcibiades, if you dislike Alcibiades it's only because you're jealous of him. Just like those Athenian fags who framed him for breaking dicks off holy statues.

Saladin. Not even kidding. He was virtuous enough to get genuine respect from Christen Europe in the middle of a Holy War.

Is this a bait post? The only person from the civil war period that would stand up to modern moral faggotry would probably be Thaddeus Stevens or Frederick Douglass. Even Sumner looks like an asshole from a modern perspective.
