Dunno but they apparently exist since the 15th century. Like, what the fuck were they doing for three centuries?

Being repressed by Mughals desu
>>
Pretty strong for how abysmally small their numbers were, and still are. But they eventually got strong armed

>tfw when are less than 30M worldwide
>>
>tfw no modern day independent Sikh state
>>
This is probably a massive oversimplification, but isn't it mostly a syncretistic mix of Muslim and Hindu beliefs?

>founded in the 15th century
>believe in one universal, indescribable god that is the universe, like in pantheism, but also beyond it and intelligent, like regular theism
>has the regular Dharmic religion stuff like reincarnation, meditation, and karma, but in a more theistic sense, in that good karma gets you closer to God and the aim of meditation and virtues is to eventually be one with God
>believe that is your actions that count and not your beliefs and it doesn't matter if you don't believe in Sikhism; Sikhs are no better than non-Sikhs
>believe that rituals and ceremony are pointless bullshit, so shit like pilgrimages, ritual fasting, sacrifices don't get you any closer to God
>believe that all humans, regardless of gender, race, or religion are all equal
>believes in a strong brotherhood of man, so they do nice shit like having a meal every day in their temples for free and everyone, even non-Sikhs, are encouraged to come
>have this concept of Saint-Soldier where members of the Khalsa (a certain sect created when they needed soldiers to fight against the Mughals but now effectively all Sikhs are a part of it) wear a uniform of sorts that includes not cutting their hair, wearing a certain bracelet and undergarment, and wearing their distinctive turban and knife (historically it was a sword that they were expected to actually use to defend people with)
This is mainly superficial stuff, but in general its a very cool religion that combines general open-mindedness and kindness with virtue and a serious commitment to protecting others. Most people who come in contact with them always say they're brotier.

They have a shady part of their history with the Khalistan Movement. It wants the Punjab region of India and Pakistan (which are Sikh majority and before British conquest independent) to be an independent nation; basically they did general terroristic stuff like hijackings and assassinations.

The introduction of the wikipedia article is pretty accurate
>Sikhism (/ˈsJkᵻzəm/), or Sikhi[3] (Punjabi: ਸਿੱਖੀ Sikkhī, pronounced [ˈsJkːʰiː], from Sikh, meaning a "disciple", or a "learner"), is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Punjab region of South Asia during the 15th century.[4][5] The fundamental beliefs of Sikhism, articulated in the sacred scripture Guru Granth Sahib, include faith and meditation on the name of the one creator, unity and equality of all humankind, engaging in selfless service, striving for social justice for the benefit and prosperity of all, and honest conduct and livelihood while living a householder's life.[6][7][8] Being one of the youngest amongst the major world religions, with 25-28 million adherents worldwide, Sikhism is the ninth-largest religion in the world.
