Apocalypse Now is a great film but it´s also based on Joseph Conrad´s Heart of Darkness, that makes it an arty film more than an historical one

Platoon is good. Especially if you want a movie to capture what it was really like the for average private. Though in recent times people starting shutting on it for some reason.

I think we're long overdue for a new crop of Vietnam movies. There's a lot of mysticism to the whole war that should be explored more often.
