What came first, the sexual/dominance spanking or the child corrective spanking?
I have a feeling it's the sexual version, butts are the most significant secondary sexual characteristic for humans, and it is not too far from other sexual animal behavior centered around establishing dominance, like kneading or humping. Additionally in the oldest civilization I doubt that there was really too much issue with restricting where you hit kids.
But I don't know what actual scholarly sources says, anyone got a good grasp on this?
