Can we have a thread on ancient explorers?
I can't imaging what it must have been like for the Greeks and Romans meeting these people at effectively the ends of the earth and trying to interact with them. Are there any stories of troubles with translators, would they have had needed multiple translators when going further?

One of the most amazing things to me is to this day there are still cultures like that out there: little to no contact with the rest of civilization, completely cut-off from everything, and you wonder how many stories and/or knowledge are lost every generation.
It's a real shame so much of the central and south american's history was destroyed during the conquista. Bless those monks who documented what they could.
