Challenge: Find a more based people in history than the Normans. Descendants of Norwegian, Danish and Icelandic Vikings. Bloodline of powerful Viking leaders mixed with the Northern French. Quickly establish a most beautiful county yet a very brutal one as well. Once pagans now Christian, they conquer England and alter history for all time.

When they arrived in 911, they were Danish vikings
Of course by 1066, after seven generations of breeding with the locals, their admixture was over 80% French and their culture had lost almost any trace of Danish origin (spoke French, were christians, lived in French feudal society, fought like the French using cavalry...etc)
It's all a matter of what Normans you talk about
Thiose who settled in Normandy in 911 were Danish, those who invaded England in 1066 were French
