Was Columbus a good guy? Why do the injuns say he is a mass killer? the Americas are probably better after they were colonized.

>Why do the injuns say he is a mass killer?
Because he was a mass killer.
>the Americas are probably better after they were colonized
For you.

"how dare they come here, and build roads and schools and shiet"
Apparently even back then he was hated.

>colombo is single handedly responsible for the work of entire countries
I hate facebook
Read his journals of the trip, all he cares about is gold, and he mentions that enslaving the natives would be easy. So he wasn´t specially a monster but a greedy motherfucker.

>how dare they live on our land before we discovered it

There is another, older, thread about this.

/his/ really is the most left leaning board here

I heard he used to feed Indians to his dogs.
I mean it was cruel but it was a differnt time.

All that already existed in the Americas before Columbus.

>how dare they come here and give us smallpox blankets, make us do death marches, and kill us off in scattered massacres
but thank god they have schools and casinos now

not as much in North America, but the argument could be made that the quality of life in central and south america was comparable to that of Europe at the time
>>1806699
>Was Columbus a good guy?
No, even taking the "morality of the times" into account.
>Why do the injuns say he is a mass killer?
Because he was.
>the Americas are probably better after they were colonized.
Arguable, and it's something which he had very little to do with. Being the "first" (if that) to discover something doesn't mean that you get to take credit for everything that happens afterwards.
>>1806699
>Was Columbus a good guy?
Bit of a dickhead, even for the times. Doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate him.
>Why do the injuns say he is a mass killer?
He mass killed
>The Americas are probably better after they were colonized.
Something he didn't really do much of, if we are moving to this topic though I think the Americas did do a lot better in the long run. At the sacrifice of suffering for a couple generations of Natives sure, but the ancestors of the ones who didn't die are probobly better off than if they had not been colonized. At least they got mixed in with the Europeans and not totally BTFO'd

>how dare they kill us, rape us, enslave us, and torture us
When the fucking pope calls you a monster, you're fucked
>literally all these answers are "becuz he wuz"

Great counter argument!
