Why didn't the cubans adopt a communist flag after their revolution? It seems like all the other gommie states did that.
That Cuban flag was already the flag of the revolution against Spain.

They were proud of their existing revolutionary tradition

>It seems like all the other gommie states did that.
Not really, no.
>>1785365
I bet you think the Chinese red was due to communism.
>>1785365
Because the Anti-Spic revolution was adopted as a proletarian one.
>>1785365
well it has a star and the color red on it. good enough?
Cuba revolutionary movement was not comunist from the start, Castro was looking for USA support but after he was rejected the other super power intervened
>>1785365
Because cuban communism is also nationalist to the bone. You don´t see cult of personality Fidel statues but Jose Martí everywhere.

didn't want the US to invade them right away, nor to lose the support of half of the population right at the start

>Cuba revolutionary movement was not OPENLY comunist from the start
ftfy
Fidel Castro seems to have been a Marxist/communist since before the revolution, but Cuba was always Catholic and not really leftist, so being a good politician he first looked for an arrangement with the US, a way of pacific living
then the US made very clear that they weren't for it and Castro made his ideologies clearer, but at that point he was sending Guevara for a lot of diplomatic talks in Soviet countries already

It's a Latino thing
communism/socialism gets mixed up with nationalism.
Just look at Chavez and muh Bolivar in Venezuela.
plus the flag already has a star and some red, no symbolism intrinsically tied to the old regime, and has its roots in the movement to free Cuba from Spanish rule (i.e. anti-imperialist/colonialist)
