As far as I remember in the definitions and my Econ studies back from college without resorting to look it up, Mercantilism is more based on trading raw resources whereas Capitalism is the use of these resources and capital as inputs to create other products.

Spice trade is mercantilism whereas mass Rum distilling in the New World is more Capitalism because it requires the capital in order for it to be more than a small cottage industry.
