Can anyone tell me anything about Leif Ericson and his journey to America?
Apparantly he fought with Native Americans...

Read the Vinland Saga, yo. It's short and really cool. The Indians are called Skrælings.

Do you know of any other famous unusual battles? Like perhaps Australian aboriginies versus China? Did that happen?

None come to mind right now, but keep looking, the world has always been far more connected than people think, it seems.

Han China fought what was left of Alexander's Successors in Ferghana for their nice horsies since while China was willing to pay, the purchase wouldve taken a large chunk of the horse-herds to make Ferghana-Greeks say "no." China's emperor, the Wu Emperor of Han, needed the top quality horses for his planned war versus the Xiongnu.
The Wu Emperor of Han sent one of his bro-in-law to make the purchase forcibly, but the idiot fought every city state West of China on the way to Ferghana that he was defeated in Ferghana. Wu sent him another army and told him to do it again, and this time he succeeded, capturing the capital of Ferghana (Alexandreia Eschate.) and forcing them to part with 10,000 horses.
That said, the Ferghana Greeks did benefit from China's eradication of the Xiongnu.

Unusual encounters thread?
Alexander the Great met some of the first Celtic Warlords during their gradual push in Eastern Europe. A delegation of Celts met with Alexander while he was campaigning in Thrace. Alexander asked them if the rumors are true and that they feared nothing. "We fear nothing." was the initial answer. Though they huddled amongst themselves and then added, "well, except if the sky falls on us."

Very interesting! The more I learn about Chinese history the more I am amazed. It's such a vibrant history.
Obviously there's the Aztec/Mayans and the Spaniards which must have been quite a tense first contact.
I'm sure I heard somewhere that the Easter Islanders were very fond of sailing.
Oh, I remembered one, the battle between the Tang Dynasty and the Abbasid Caliphate:
