They're eternally butthurt that Trotsky was kicked out before he could actually really try anything about governing Russia.

Contemporary left-wingers don't agree on anything, not even if mass immigration is either good or something that governments and corporations are forcing on populations.

I've seen more Trotskyists than Tankies.

Trotsky was an opportunist autist and he also used his military campaign as a political leverage, bordering on populist Bonapartism.

I see much more love for Trotsky than for Stalin, and the latter actually achieved things, Trotsky just achieved his death.

Most contemporary left-wing people see Trotsky as some kind of humanist communist, in contrast to the terrible tyrant Stalin.

They don't even know that by any measure Trotsky was even worse. He was the one who first proposed collectivization of agriculture, Stalin was actually reluctant to follow through, and he even wanted militarization of industrial labour, basically enslaving the entire Russian people.

Lenin dislike him, most of the Party disliked him. He was an opportunist and an outcast. Yet some people think he was 'the greatest leader the Soviets never had'.

I'm hostile to Trotskyism, but it is worth noting that the accusations of factionalism and Bonapartism directed against Trotsky stem from the Zinoviev-Kamenev-Stalin troika, themselves a faction within the Community Party and the de facto power in the Central Committee. This same troika had prevented Lenin's Testament from being read out to the delegates of the Twelfth Party Congress convened in April 1923.

It should also be recalled that Trotsky twice declined Lenin's offer of a key government position*, on the basis that a Jew would not be accepted in a place of high authority so long as antisemitism persisted in Russia.

* Once in October 1917, for Comissar of the Interior, and once in 1922, for Deputy Chairman of Sovnarkom.

Trotsky was a fanatic, just like most Bolsheviks.
He was no less brutal than Stalin, in fact I'd argue he was even more brutal and detached from real life than Stalin.
His hands were just as bloody, he wasn't some benign intellectual like modern plebs imagine him to be. None of them were.
